Meet Dr. Emily Grant DeCarlo — the heart behind the Institute. More than an organization, this is a movement: inspiring healing, hope and transformation that operates at the speed of love.
Dr. Emily Grant DeCarlo is an educator, author and evangelist whose legacy work spans five decades — since 1976. She founded the Grant DeCarlo Institute for the Healing Arts on one conviction: that healing is never only physical. It lives where mind, body and spirit meet.
Her approach is a unique blend of wellness education, creative expression, spiritual enrichment and humanitarian service. She holds an earned doctorate (PhD) in Ministry from a legitimate, accredited college, along with earned degrees spanning education, counseling, sociology and special education, and has carried poetry into both healing and the classroom — including her poetry collection “Glaze.”
Two of her books have been used at Virginia State University — in the English undergraduate department and the Special Education graduate program — and her work in poetry, literacy and personal development has been shared through interviews and literary appearances.
The Institute she leads isn't about patching what's been torn. It's about building new models — restoring lives not back to brokenness, but forward into hope, purpose and God-given potential.
“We don't patch what's been torn — we build new models that operate at the speed of love.”
More than an organization — a movement and a mission, dedicated to restoring lives, not back to brokenness, but by renewing hope and building healthier communities for generations to come.— Dr. Emily Grant DeCarlo

Whether it’s the books, the wellness programs, the poetry, the ministry or the Institute, it is one mission expressed through many avenues — helping people recognize their God-given worth.

Poetry, writing and the arts as real, restorative tools for healing.
Faith, hope and encouragement — offered warmly, never imposed.
Programs and outreach that lift families and communities — locally and worldwide.
The Institute exists to disseminate research, services and products that enhance the spiritual, physical and emotional well-being of people all over the world — through a holistic, client-centered approach. More than an organization, it is a movement and a mission to transform lives.
Dr. Emily's vision is generational. Through her signature “My Condensed Course in Wellness,” “Power-Filled” workshops and personal-development programs, the Institute doesn't simply serve people — it equips them to become catalysts for change in their own families and communities.
That work grows through partnership. By joining hands with universities, school systems, health agencies, churches and organizations, the Institute carries whole-person wellness far beyond any single setting — work that has included past partnerships with the Virginia State University Public Health Institute and JenCare Senior Medical Center, bringing natural wellness education and courses to the Tri-Cities and across Virginia.
“We're not patching what's been torn — we're building new models for generations to come.”

A warm, no-pressure conversation is the first step toward feeling whole again.
